haiga

What is haiga? Haiga comes from the Japanese "hai," meaning playful, and "ga," meaning painting. It is the artful combination of haiku and sumi-e. Classic haiga employ brush and black ink for both the haiku and the picture, and the two elements complement rather than illustrate each other.
