Haiku Seeking Edits & Response 4

Global Haiku Tradition--Haiku Attempts 4, PACE 2003

child's gaze
fireflies fluttering
dancing together in the night

well worn treehouse
dark autumn sky
haunting tales fill the air

gentle vibration
show tunes
cell phones

soft cold hand
finally at rest
heart full of sorrow

Pen and paper
An experience
A haiku is born

bride and groom
promising forever
a parent's joyful cry

the swearing-in
a grateful speech
overwhelming joy

grand canyon
rocks and stones
fossils

fond old memories
afternoon cup cakes waiting
school kids running

blinding lights
searing pain
migraine

on bended knee
diamond ring
tears of joy

room filled with roses
man in a tux
proposal of marriage

quietly enjoying the warm breeze
sitting very still . . .
bee sting!

taking the wrong exit
lost in an unfamiliar city
finding a long lost friend

throbbing pain
intense sensitivity
how long the suffering?

shoulders with peach fuss
warm inquisitive green eyes
smile warms the heart

exchanging hurtful words
silence grows too loud
forgiveness

turning to prayer
pouring out my heart
peace flowing in

blind-folded,
a walk without fear
gives true sight

seven candles flicker
moment in time;
sounds of the flame

In daze—
I awake
To my master's call

barrels rolling
down hill—
children inside.

autumn evening
horse caridge-ride;
man kneels

Beads of sweat
Clock ticking
Summer heat

Sunday drive
Wet nose
Beckons for more

Passing by
Barking
Summer evening

Tiny specs
Through clouds
Jetliner screaming

Top of hill
Chest is heavy
Sun is setting

thunder rolls
spring rain
cleanses the air

The king snake slithers across the wooded trail
SNATCH!!!
The curious child makes a wondrous discovery

Lost in a forest of green
Carrying food larger than he
The ant trudges along

candles flickering in the pitch black night
unbearable heat
Oh… to see the light of day
blackout!!

a birthday cake with 7 glowing candles
an afternoon of presents and singing
the lights go out . . .
ice storm of 197

Morning flight
window seat view
houses become anthills

Snowflakes abound
Magical moment captured
Eyes fixated on mother’s globe

Ball diamond calls
Childhood ambition
—a father’s patience to coach

Sobs of a child
“Why Mommy, why?”
Heaven needs doggies too.

many numbers
both black and white
still I strive

endless questions
hardly any answers
still I wander

faster and faster
I ride down the street
I win

Leaves are twirling
Winds are blowing
Moisture in the air
Autumn's here

college starts
my daughter leaves
the house so empty

grass is brown
flowers drying
fall is near

sailboat sails
in the shadow of the moon
on a warm brisk night

pretty flowers
sweet smells
and bee stings

summer night
cat prowls
as moon flowers bloom

warm morning
lone hen
quacks softly

or

warm morning
lone hen
clucks softly

somewhere from above
hungry cries of baby birds
the cat licks its paws

eating conch salad
at water's edge—
the seashell keeps the ocean's roar

silhouetting a crimson sunset
a sacrifice pierced
. . . for love

extremely cold
ice glaciers float
toward the ship
it slowly sinks

breathing softly and staying motionless
in my son's dark closet—
a rainy day game of hide and seek

lilac scented steam rises as
bubbles tickle my toes—
bath time revelations begin

longing to feel His presence
I surrender
to merciful love

too scared to look down
my eyes tighten shut
cool city winds blow

fluffy clouds beneath me
silent breathing
in my ears
soft clicking

first taste
shaves of raw fish
colored dip
feel the sun

many screeches
uncle’s approach
suggestive agony
children falling asleep

walking hand in hand
with my true love
oblivious to the world around

wearing my nana's scarf
the faint smell of white linen
missing someone so much it hurts

Beautiful woman in white
Flower girl daughter
Knowing this time if forever

Cool breeze in the morn
Warm in the day
Cool breeze in the evening
Season’s change

Temperature changes
Dark clouds roll in
Still wind
Thunderstorms a coming
Smell the rain before it comes

softly lit room
we gather closely
she takes her last breath

smoke blackened face
wearily slouched shoulders
he neatly refolds the fire hose
