PACE Global Haiku Traditions September 2009

dropped a pumpkin
on my foot
just desserts

smiling
she laces her skates
ice covered lake

reunion
with an old friend
my favorite sweater

grandpa’s shoes
the miles they’ve traveled
I will never know

top quarter champion

top half champion

bottom quarter champion

rosy cheeks
ready to sled down
the hill again

piles of leaves
an invitation
to jump in

cold autumn morning
too soon
to light the furnace

moon watching
stillness in the night
winter breath…

top half champion

champion

bottom half champion

frost on the bedroom window
a light from above
full moon

cold winter night
under the covers
we keep each other warm

covered patio furniture
full stack of firewood
at season’s end

home no more
a gray nest
sways in the wind

top quarter champion

bottom half champion

bottom quarter champion

a shivering hand
shakes
an empty can

teeth chattering
sip the soup
to warm up

snow starts to fall
she shivers
as she walks to the bus stop

rain pouring down
windshield wipers racing
still no sight of the road
