Heavy Eyes

Global Haiku Tradition--Kasen Renga, Spring 2005

Warm Spring Morning
class documentary
heavy eyes

    fighting battle
    against the warmth

awaken
realizing
everyone leaving

    next adventure
    coming soon

open feild
i lay with her
under the moon

    talk of feelings
    only we share

back home
we go to bed
for a while

    late night
    brings rough day

morning sun
breaks through
on dewey sod

    sufficating covers
    extra sleep

morning breakfast
always
eggs + toast

    dishes in sink
    added to pile

moonlight romance
delays work
of the day

    busy road
    fender bender

cost of haste
dents
pocketbook

    aganizing wait
    cost of the night

looking for cool place
i rest under
tree of cherry blossoms

    full clouds
    intise imagination

elephant chases
a mouse
in the sky

    out of the blue
    ticket arrives

late coming
draws stares
disbelievable

    final step
    dirt cover jeans

glances and smiles
shared
by passerbyers

    quick look
    food in teath

white horse
leaves hoveprints
in the ground

    inverted steps
    next to piles

ruined day
brings no collection
of possibilities

    leassons gathered
    little knowledge

night brings
full moon
leads actions

    muddied shoes
    squishy soles

eternal bliss
sacrificed for
temporary pleasures

    sunday morning dress
    stain from previous week

service ends
with
joining of hands

    big dinner
    fills all

under cherry blossoms
we relax
in shade

    heaviness
    reocurrs
