Lights, Camera . . . Haiku!

by
John Wright

Movies—a source of entertainment for many, and the next evolutionary step in human creation. Whether you like to admit it or not, movies are becoming more common and widespread than literature, and as such, some filmmakers have attempted to adapt some of the ideas and strategies of that medium into their work. Movies reflect who we are as a society, inspire us, and cause us to search inside of ourselves for deeper meaning. Some of the haiku in this collection have been inspired by movies.

lovers skate
on the ice . . .
I just watch

the snowman displays
his silk hat proudly…
cocky bastard

hands brush
on the school bus—
cootie epidemic

crying into my
Chunky Monkey—
my only friends are Ben and Jerry

days get warmer…
my deodorant
gets a work out
