Global Haiku, Spring 2014

door handle sticks
car sputtering
a cat in the window

the old car sputters
door handle sticks
a cat watches through a window

early morning
car sputters and handles stick
as the cat window watches

cat watching from the window
as the car sputters
and the handle sticks

bobber dips
once, twice, thrice.
He got away this time

a day on the lake
I feel a tug at my line
but he got away once more

again and again
the bobber dips below
this time he got away

bobber dips
one, two, three
not this time

beautiful city all lit up
leather backseat
“I love you.”

beautiful city all lit up
warm leather backseat
whispering "I love you."

leather taxi seats
beautiful lights from the window
love in the air

city lights
illuminate her face
teenage love

The city is all lit
from the leather backseat.
“I love you.”

sweat dripping
still in first
one last lap

sweat dripping
still in first
feel no pain

still in first
one last lap
sweat dripping

pushing to finish
as sweat drips down my face
first place

one last lap
still in first
drenched in sweat

still in first
with one last lap
the sweat falls

one last lap
sweat dripping
competition on my heels

drive to the cemetery
two deer cross
sign of afterlife

two deer cross
as I drive passed the cemetery
signs of afterlife

drive into the cemetery
two deer wander
life among the dead

The next step
Are we moving too fast?
Two place sets

The next step
Are we moving too fast?
One rent bill

the next step—
two plates set at the table
. . . is this too fast?

thinking twice
as my boxes fill his room
move in day

step out into the winter torn world
like Brendan Fraser
Blast from the Past

winter air
I search for myself
it's a cold world

a Blast from the Past
stepping into the winter torn world
like Brenden Fraser

his chuckle
so deep
ice cold Busch Light

hot summer night
his chuckle so deep
ice cold Busch Light

television screen
his chuckle so deep
ice cold Busch Light

watching the game
his chuckle is deep
with the cold Busch Light
