Haiku Kukai 6 - April Fools

Global Haiku • Millikin University • Spring 2014

the giggling child
awaits his mother
in the cupboard

April fool—
he gazes with love
at the woman behind her

small laboratory
one robot
lays whoopee cushions

asleep on the couch
permanent markers
face tattoos

april fools
a prank
backfires

quiet whispers
turn to silence
the teacher has arrived

heart attack
on April 1st
everyone laughs

I won
my bracket pool!
. . . april fools . . .

a smile
IT'S A TRAP
april fools

the bus driver tells
us school is cancelled
April fools

the worst day
for a birthday
April Fools' baby

a little white lie, a joke for all
I'm moving to England;
I'm pregnant, it's a girl

budding daisies
under blankets of frost
april fools

husband proposes on April first
the woman laughs at his joke
oops

cold rain falling
praying the news was just
a cruel April fools

a fat red F
on my essay
. . . April Fools!
