A Walk Along the Shore

by
Aaron Fleming

This class was a very interesting class for me. I am not a writer of any kind, and poetry, especially these short, expressive poems were a challenge to me. I mostly ended up writing about things I had recently seen or done, or wrote about the people in my life. Those things were the main inspiration for my writing. Dr. Brooks was a great teacher and helped me out a lot throughout the semester. I’d like to think I have improved throughout the semester, but those reading my work will have to be the judge of that.

cool wind blowing
the geese chase each other
in the calm river

eyes closed
I hear the rain
every drop

frigid wind
the mourners shiver
taps

driving his grandpa’s truck
by himself
never alone

on one hand, homework
but in the other,
her hand

a walk along the shore
my reflection
walks with me

the path less travelled
leaving footprints
in the dust
