Global Haiku Tradition--Senryu 1 Matching Contest, Spring 2002

spring dance
I paint my nails
for no one
fingers and lips
tattooed in blue
memories of mulberries
no boys allowed
sappy movie
chocolate everything
rainy night
middle of my movie
dog barks louder

after the argument
he decides to
hit the couch

arguing over the dress
mother and daughter
on the mall escalator

dishwater hands     folded laundry
     four pots steaming
          he's almost home

waving good-bye
I miss him
running after me with my teddy bear

the stripper
starts a conversation
with her breasts
gentle rain falls
anticipation    of what may come
the first kiss is born
the truth waits
I look away
as you kiss my cheek
a long walk
the young girl
hides from headlights

Christmas eve
the cats
already opened our presents

wallpaper starting to peel
I strip away
my memories

grass-stained palms
lonely stargazer
thinking of his father

my bathroom . . .
time to think
I know to shake the handle
