cluttered dorm room—
giggling till sunrise
over two bowls of Lucky Charms

rain scent
brother's knees muddied from
searching for worms

thru Grandmother's woods
to the old Blackberry bush—
I trip over that same root

streetlamps in the puddles—
two strangers laughing
a little too loud

Already winter
     in his words—
we gather fallen leaves

Grandpa's cherry tree—
where my swing was hung
the rusted yellow chain

Late sumer rain
     the wolf-howls
of frat boys in the mud

midnight dorm snack
as I open the tuna can
no meow
