One Last Look:
Selected Haiku
by

Alicia M. Scott

When I started this class I thought I would hate it. After all, I came in expecting to work on something completely different but I found a fondness for haiku and even developed some skill or at least according to those on my floor.

dreams shattered
one last look
before I turn out the lights

Quiet!
roommate once again
asleep during the day

a sword,
to a bowed head
stands a knight

dancing fire
pops and snaps
luring me to sleep

only one up
a sense of calm
fills the scene
