1

like ice cream
melting on hot pavement
you slip
from my fingers
what once was.

2

two roads diverged
and so we part
without you
it’s a long walk
home

3

this time
your kiss
was catching—
sick in bed today
with the virus you gave me

4

I’ll go where you go
when it crumbles,
we will stand tall
with one final dance
at sky fal

5

fingers crossed
behind your back
as you promise
that you’ll love me
forever

6

was it always so obvious
that I had fallen
for a lie?
fool me once, twice,
I still don’t learn my lesson.

7

bad news
on my x-ray
you cried
and i pretended
i wasn’t scared

9

still feel the kiss
you left
on my shoulder
how slow time moves
when you’re away

10

taco night
soft shell split
down the middle
toppings tumble out
betrayed again

11

washing machine
broken
for two weeks
in a row—
a renter’s lament

13

oh to be
in two places at once
childhood bedroom
arms still wrapped
around you

14

missing the clear blue
of your eyes
I stare at your picture
afraid I’ll forget
if I stop looking

15

BS!
in the basement
with my not-so-little cousins
who got really good at
counting cards

16

spilling secrets
words i shouldn’t
have said
you tell me
how i should feel

17

499 puzzle pieces
the next person
will wonder
how they lost
the last piece

18

punching the mirror
won’t change the way
the monster it reflects
smiles back at
me

19

the glass
shattered against
the wall
a likeness to
my scattered soul

20

third degree burns
all along his legs
that’s what my brother gets
for saying
he didn’t break my dolly!

21

fairy figurine
on my ceiling
glitters in lamplight
I swear
she winked

22

playing cards
with grandma
she pretends
she didn't notice me
sneak a peak

23

looking through
the spyglass
beholding glints
of our dazzling
future

24

a bucket full
of strawberries
you place
the ripest one
in my patient mouth
