In the twenty-plus years since, he has maintained a steady stream of haiku and related poems. His haiku have been anthologized widely, including in: Baseball Haiku (W.W. Norton, 2007), Montage (The Haiku Foundation, 2010), Haiku 21 (Modern Haiku Press, 2011), Haiku in English: The First Hundred Years (W.W. He served a three-year term as a panelist for The Haiku Foundation’s Touchstone Distinguished Books Award and served as a regional coordinator for the Haiku Society of America. His work has been honored with several awards over the years, including two Pushcart Prize nominations and four Touchstone Awards for Individual Poems from The Haiku Foundation. His four previous collections of haiku were all contest winners: Pop Bottles (True Vine Press, 2009), Rope Marks (Snapshot Press, 2012), The Deep End of the Sky (Turtle Light Press, 2015), which also received second place in the Haiku Society of America’s Merit Book Awards, and The White Buffalo (Backbone Press, 2023), which made the shortlist for The Haiku Foundation’s Touchstone Distinguished Books Award. In addition to his collections, Chad edited Gone Fishing, a daily haiku feature that appeared on The Haiku Foundation’s website in September 2014. He lives in central South Dakota with his wife and son. |
