In Her Blue Eyes: Jessica Poems

 Randy & Shirley Brooks

The Beach Toddler

teenager cradles
his little sister . . .
surf around his ankles

mermaid's purse
caught in the sea foam . . .
"You pick it up, Daddy."
cat climbs rocks
outside the seafood cafe . . .
meows from the high chair

toddler on the balcony
calls
the seagull's call

sister and brother
stick out their tongues . . .
malted egg blue
the leaf shadows
on the kitchen floor,
baby talks to herself

home
from the beach vacation--
each toy new again
