In Her Blue Eyes: Jessica Poems

 Randy & Shirley Brooks

The Toddler's Fish

toddler's finger
touches the surface . . .
out of the depths, a goldfish

toddler's lip out . . .

"the goldfish didn't bite,

it kissed your finger"

reflection of my daughter
and me . . .
horsefly taps the pond

toddler's frown . . .
winter ducks swim past
her bread crumbs
March picnic . . .
her rubber ducks in a row
on the army blanket

no crumbs left,
the girl continues to reach . . .
carp's open mouth
